DJ Big C
DJ Big C is a native DMVer with over twenty years of professional entertainment experience and unparalleled passion for music. His resume is extensive including gigs such as opening act for Linkin Park, Bone Thugs 'N Harmony, Biohazard, Chemical Method, and Ginuwine; spinner for Larry Johnson's NFL draft party and after parties of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Ludacris, the whole Roc-A-Fella crew, and comedians such as Tracey Morgan; the official DJ of the Penn State men's basketball team and the Bacardi Road Trip; and DJ for more sophisticated evenings such as the Farewell and Thank You Dinner for the Watergate Hotel, the Knights of Diamonds Gala, military balls, and more than 75 weddings throughout the country.
Big C started in the entertainment industry through word-of-mouth. Before the time of WinAmp and iTunes playlists, friends at Penn State would ask Big C to load up his large CD collection and entertain them for the night. As more house parties requested his talents, Big C's dreams grew bigger. Within a few months, he bought two turntables, a mixer and records. Under the direction of a fellow Penn Stater, Big C learned the ins and outs of the trade. His first real gig came in 1999 at the Lion's Den in State College. The Lion's Den became a permanent gig opening many more doors and ultimately establishing Big C as one of the most talented and reliable DJs in Happy Valley. Big C loves catering to his audience and introducing them to the B-side of music. "One of the coolest things about being a DJ is relating to the crowd, creating music from that relationship and making each night special", he says.
After college, DJ Big C returned to the DMV and landed one resident DJ gig after another at Rhino Bar, Modern, Third Edition and The Tombs in Georgetown; Nolan's and Saki in Adam's Morgan; Pure Lounge and CAUSE on U Street; Lizard Lounge and The Light Horse in Old Town Alexandria; the Auld Shebeen in Fairfax City; and Public House at the National Harbor.
